Museum of Pinball Arcade Games Auction – NBC Los Angeles

More than 1,000 arcade games, including a plethora of pinball machines dating back decades, are on display at the auction block.

This weekend, and again later this month, the items will go on sale as Banning’s Museum of Pinball prepares to close its doors for good. The 40,000-square-foot museum will host live, online offerings Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the facility’s floor, located at 700 S. Hathaway Street.

The nonprofit announced in July that due to coronavirus public health blockages for nearly a year, its financial situation had become serious and options had been exhausted. There was an attempt to move the approximately 1,100 vintage pinball machines and digital arcade games to a Palm Springs site, but the effort ended, according to reports.

The museum offers the largest collection of classic pinball and arcade games in the world. Some of the pinball titles include “Addams Family Gold
Special “,” Big Bang Bar “and” Magic Girl “.

Digital arcade games include “Star Wars Cockpit” and “Paperboy,” Exidy’s “Death Race” and Atari’s “Bally Midway Discs of Tron.”

According to the auctioneer, Captain’s Auction Warehouse of Anaheim, the museum’s collection exceeds $ 8 million.

“While it’s disappointing to see the Pinball Museum close its doors, I’m sure Captain’s auction store will direct the games in the right direction, as we’ve worked together for many years,” the museum owner said. , John Weeks.

Offers will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the museum, as well as online.

Additional auctions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 11 a.m. Product previews will be available between noon and 3pm on Friday and between 9am and 11am on weekends.

According to the museum, all the inventory that is not auctioned on September 13 can be used during the last bidding event scheduled for September 24 to 26.
