Fania musician and producer Larry Harlow has died today at the age of 82 in his native New York, his wife confirmed on social media.
“To all the salseros in the world I inform you with deep pain that after 32 days hospitalized, my dear Larry died at 12:30 in the morning due to complications as a kidney patient that weakened his already exhausted heart “wrote the wife of the Wonderful Jew, as she was known.
“I ask them to please give us space for family and close friends to process our loss,” he added.
The pianist was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 20, 1939, into a family of American musicians of Jewish descent.
Throughout his career he worked as a performer, composer and music producer.
Among his most popular albums are Obrin pas and Tribute to Arsenio Rodríguez, with Ismael Miranda as singer.
Harlow was a key musician in salsa and one of the first to record for Fania Records. He also appeared with Fania All Stars, in the film, Our Latin Thing.
“You are free again to play your music in the heavenly orchestra. Thank you for the honor of accompanying you and loving you to the end of your days. You will live forever in my heart and in the heart of all who love your music and your gigantic legacy, ”his wife shared.
