Musk may have lied about the modifications to the plaid’s ring

On Friday a a video was released showing that the Tesla Model S Plaid had set a new Nürburgring record. He did it sets a time of 7: 30.9 which is quite faster than the previous time of the record holders of 7: 42.3. This was set up by a Porsche Taycan Turbo 2019. Elon Musk hurried to tweet about the record and specifically noted that tthe car was not modified.

Since then, some people online have noticed that some of the cars circulating on the track, in spy photos and videos taken on the day of the record test, are not exactly stocks. Something quirky is happening here. In the following tweet, you’ll see a red plaid with what appears to be a large set of carbon ceramic brakes under non-existent wheels. Many have also noticed that the same red car drove with a round steering wheel instead of a yoke. This doesn’t exactly call “unmodified”.

Twitter user @Benshooter later, he backed Musk’s accusation by lying about the record. Tesla posted a video embedded in its own YouTube channel, and it seems that the only change that was made was to put a secondary market digital indicator reading in front of the driver, even keeping the steering wheel of the yoke bravely. The video was also posted on The ‘Ring’s YouTube channel, corroborating the album’s authenticity. The official lap time of this built-in video is 7: 35.579.

So what does it give? What about the other time on the list, a 7: 30.909? It is clear that Tesla has more speed up its sleeve. Judging by the video built into a red car, it looks like Tesla could have two red cars in hand, one second and one seriously modified. There was also at least one black car on hand. Perhaps Tesla did several iterations of the Plaid on the track, including a future track-centered version with ceramic carbon brakes and a round steering wheel..

With the results certified by the records required by the necessary officials, it seems that Tesla has followed the moves to do it the right way. There’s no reason not to be a little skeptical about Elon Musk’s claims, but at least this time it looks like everything is on the rise. It’s a bit incomplete for Elon not to explain that the actual “record” was the slower of the two laps he posted on Twitter, but it’s entirely possible he doesn’t know the difference.
