Voting at the Hall of Fame seems easy: for everyone who doesn’t have a vote. But ask any of us to do it. We could think of 1,000 adjectives to describe the Hall of Fame vote. I guarantee “easy” wouldn’t reach the top 1,000.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who throws and spins at 4am thinking about my ballot. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who gets stuck in a name or two or three, for days and often for weeks.
I always try to be aware that when you cast one of these ballots it is a serious responsibility. So we all have to take it seriously.
I also try to be aware that everyone who has even read so far is deeply concerned about the Hall of Fame. So I owe you this column. I owe you an explanation for everything related to this vote. This is true whether you like it or hate it.
