Since the government announced that it would use vaccination for all citizens, it has been waiting for more details to arrive on how and when it will be done and for whom, etc. Over time, it became clearer with the government to announce details of who will be vaccinated first, and so on. It started the journey and it also started the curiosity of people like me to know “how it was”. Some of the obvious questions that popped into my mind were, “is it painful,” “how long does the pain last,” “would there be side effects,” “would it have any long-term impact”? it deals with all strains of the virus, ”“ there would be fever after the vaccine, ”etc. Meanwhile, my mother, who is 75, was vaccinated and some of these questions were answered.
A few days after the government announced the opening of the vaccine for citizens over 45, my wife and I decided to book an appointment through the Arogya Setu app. Consciously, we had decided to opt for the “paid” category so that the “unpaid” could be available to people who deserved it. We booked an appointment for me and the appointment was granted on April 6 at Jupitor Hospital, Thane. Therefore, I had organized / adjusted my official appointments on April 6 and 7, as most of those who got the vaccine before I advised it. A surprise prepared me when I landed at Jupitor Hospital at the appointed time. The volunteer there did not find my name on their list. I showed him the screenshot of the appointment just to check that the appointment was actually March 6 and not April 6. Apparently, it was a problem in the Arogya Setu app, as we booked my appointment last week of March. In addition, vaccination was not opened for 45 years or more on March 6. After pointing it out to the volunteer, he advised me to book an appointment. Luckily, I got an appointment for the next afternoon at Highway Hospital, Thane. This time, I checked again to make sure the date was indeed April 7th.
I arrived at the hospital at that time and was immediately directed to a waiting room where they issued a witness and checked my details. The next 5 minutes, I was ushered into a room and made to sit in a comfortable chair while the doctor prepared to inject the vaccine. As is the dominant trend, I called the nurse to take a picture of me while I was vaccinated. The whole process was finished after 5 minutes after which, I was forced to sit in an adjoining room for 30 minutes. There were several others who were sitting there waiting for their 30 meters to pass so they could be free. A volunteer saved time and let go of those “who had run out of time” !! He also advised everyone to take a paracetamol pill in case of headache, headache or fever. I left the room after the waiting period was over and left the hospital with a sense of success and pride.
After getting home, I attended some official engagements and was absolutely fine until the early hours of the evening. Around 7pm, I started to feel a little tired and started to have a mild headache in addition to having a fever. When I checked the temperature, it was 98. Before going to bed that night, I took a paracetamol tablet as advised. I couldn’t afford to go down the next day as I had several official commitments.
I woke up the next day (April 8) feeling a little under the weather. The mild headache continued and in the afternoon he felt fever again. Also, I started to have joint pain and felt very uncomfortable all day. That night, I had another paracetamol tablet and slept reassuring myself that the next day would be absolutely fine.
Luckily, my peace of mind worked and I woke up on the 9th feeling completely fit and well. Overall, I am happy with the experience as I now have a new story to tell !!
