Nathan Apodaca, the skateboarder monologue that TikTok hated at Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” and Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry Juice, went viral in September, has COVID-19, his representative confirmed.
“He’s at home resting and improving,” Gina Rodriguez told The Times on Tuesday.
Her fiancée, Estela Chávez, is also ill with the new coronavirus caused by COVID-19, according to TMZ, which first reported the news.
Apodaca, also known as DoggFace, posted a TikTok of himself on Tuesday afternoon, dancing around Matt Ox’s “Dazed”. In the title he wrote, “The show must go on.”
According to TMZ, TikToker, which lives in Idaho, has traveled a lot since its rise to fame. He went to Las Vegas last month to get engaged and spent time in Los Angeles recently, working on several projects. Flights to and from Los Angeles were his first plane trips, according to the site.
The virus is spreading lately in Southern California, with Ellen DeGeneres, Sharon Osbourne and Carrie Ann Inaba among people with the disease.
Apodaca, 37, filmed his famous TikTok video after his car’s battery died when he went to work at a potato store and decided to mount his skateboard there. Apodaca lived in a trailer with no electricity or running water.
Once the video came out, his life changed drastically. Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac joined TikTok just to be able to post a tribute video. Stevie Nicks and former Mac member Lindsey Buckingham followed suit with their own videos. And TikTok put pictures of Apodaca, Fleetwood and other impersonators in its own TV ad.
Fans gave Apodaca $ 15,000 in online donations, a gift he called “life-changing” on his website. Ocean Spray and a local car dealership also gave him a cranberry red truck in early October. TikTok’s video did free juice advertising, not to mention the 1977 Fleetwood Mac song “Dreams,” which also saw sales grow.
