NBA officials explain why Sixers’ big man, Dwight Howard, was kicked out

The Philadelphia 76ers are still abbreviated in place of the big men right now. Still missing is Joel Embiid, who is still recovering from a bone contusion he suffered on March 12 and, due to trades, only has one true center on the list and that is Dwight Howard.

The 17-year-old veteran was ejected from Thursday’s win over the Los Angeles Lakers in the first quarter after picking up two technical fouls and got the wrath of coach Doc Rivers for it. He then played well on Saturday against the Clippers, but came back into it with officers in the fourth.

Howard took two quick techniques and then was thrown for the second straight game. He finished nine points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Los Angeles.

NBA officer Tony Brothers then spoke with a pool reporter about why Howard was kicked out:

He said something derogatory to the officer with whom he spoke about the officer who described the first technical foul.

This was the second technical foul, but what caused the first? The brothers added:

The first coach was called up, he was called up for an offensive foul. During the next possession, he ran all over the floor to the person in charge of the call, pointed at him and called him and so the first technical foul was committed.

It’s another lesson to learn to keep a cooler head when things get tough. The Sixers will continue their road trip Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena.
