The Brooklyn Nets faced the Cleveland Cavaliers, in what was the first appearance with all their weapons in an official NBA game. Kyrie Irving returned to action and joined Kevin Durant and James Harden, being the first game of the huge Big-Three that formed the New York franchise.
If the expectations of some were that the Nets were going to sweep with any team put ahead of them, the Cavaliers proved them wrong. Cleveland played a solid game from start to finish, and by the time Brooklyn seemed to take the game away, Collin Sexton appeared.
The start of the match seemed to be doomed for the visit, as they got a 23-15 lead. However, the same turned out to be the maximum of Brooklyn to all the party, since Cleveland ended up taking the first quarter 28-23 and went on to pull out nine units at the start of the second (32-23).
The Nets continued to fight and managed to equalize the action 18 seconds from the end of the second half (49-49) and they were even able to make a slight difference (55-54) at the start of the second half. However, again the Cavaliers did their thing and took the maximum in the third half (87-73).
It is clear that this Brooklyn Nets will have to overcome it on more than one occasion to be able to get the victory, as they managed to return thanks to a last quarter in which the hierarchy was seen. With 5 minutes left they were already three points behind (105-102), although the game ended in a draw at 113 after the regular 48 minutes and they had to go to extra time. There seemed to be no problems there, but Collin Sexton converted a triple to a second from the end to equalize again and take the game to an extra second.
When it looked like the second overtime was going to be the turning point for the Brooklyn Nets, the lead actor of the night appeared: Collin Sexton.
