The Los Angeles Lakers faced the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night in the NBA, being the fourth of seven consecutive games where the California franchise will face its Eastern Conference peers. The Lakers and Sixers put on a great show and showed why they are in the season.
Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid know this season is their last chance to show management and the NBA that they can be complementary and get far in the playoffs. Undoubtedly, the match against Lebron James and company was a more than interesting test for the rest of the campaign.
Those led by Doc Rivers started the game knowing the high rod usually proposed by those commanded by Frank Vogel and they managed to take the first quarter by ten points (34-24). The Lakers adjusted some nuts in the second half to reduce the lead to four points, though it wouldn’t last them long.
Like the first quarter, the Philadelphia 76ers came out on top wanting to impose conditions and so they did: 65-53 in a few minutes, though far from being the defining difference. The Sixers took the biggest difference in the last quarter with the 100-86 with five minutes left, but again the visit managed to get to the front by one (106-105). It didn’t have to be easy to beat the defending champions and on top of that, Tobias Harris had the last ball of the night to take the 107-106 victory.
