NC weather: Severe weather leaves most of central North Carolina unharmed

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – Severe weather warnings splashed downtown North Carolina on Thursday, but most of the region escaped unharmed.

Despite several tornado warnings, the only damage report in the region happened in Orange County.

Trees were uprooted in the Cedar Grove neighborhood, roofs were damaged, a basketball hoop was broken, and a trampoline was seen flying down the street.

The National Weather Service is deploying a survey team to examine the damage and determine if it was caused by a tornado or straight winds.

This team will begin examining the damage in Guilford County at 8 a.m. and then head east.

The storms moved out of the region Thursday night, but some rain will last until Friday.

Friday’s temperatures started in the 50s, but will actually get colder as the day progresses. You can expect it to be very windy for most of the day.

On Saturday and Sunday there will be temperatures in the 50s, with more sun on Saturday and more heat on Sunday.
