One of the veterans more productive in MLB during the last few seasons without a doubt has been the Dominican Nelson Cruz, who in his role as designated batsman has been able to put up some really good numbers, especially in his time with the Minnesota Twins, where he has led a the offensive with the most home runs in the last two years.
While Minnesota is the most favored team to sign the 40-year-old veteran again, it seems Cross’s return to the Twins is in doubt, as according to information from Velle E. Neal III, the Dominican has already received two offers from the Twins: One at the beginning of the free agency that was withdrawn after a few weeks after receiving no response and another during the December holidays.
Neal mentions that Nelson Cruz and his agent have not accepted Minnesota’s contract offers because they still have hope that the designated hitter will be implemented in the National League, and after the second offer, negotiations between the two parts have cooled.
However, despite the Twins remain the main team interested in Nelson Cruz, with no other franchise showing as much interest in the Dominican as the Twins themselves.
In two years in Minnesota, Cruz has played 157 games with 57 home runs, 307 averages, 141 RBIs, 1,020 OPS and 6.2 WAR.
