The left-back consolidated his role in the rotation with another stellar performance in a 4-3 win over the Orioles at Camden Yards, achieving an 11 of his career, while allowing only one run in 6 innings. ¹ / ₃.
“Overall, he was as good as he was,” manager Aaron Boone said. “And that’s saying something.”
Cortés has given up more than two races in just two of his last nine outings and his ERA fell to 2.60.
Boone and Cortés pointed to the effectiveness of their cutter as the reason for the attacks. A two-pointer from Austin Hays in the sixth was Cortes ’only spot on the night.
