Netflix downgrades its services to Wii U and 3DS

Netflix

Nintendo has now removed the Netflix video app designed for Wii U and 3DS from both online stores.

As of December 31, 2020, new users will no longer be able to download it. However, it is still possible for existing users to re-download applications at this time.

Service for the Wii U and 3DS will end later this year on June 30, 2021. Here is Nintendo’s full message from their website:

“As of December 31c, 2020, the Netflix app will no longer be available for new users to download from Nintendo eShop to the Wii U console or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. During this time, existing users will be able to download these applications again. The service for existing users will continue until June 30th, 2021. Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed Netflix on these platforms over the years. “

So does that mean Netflix is moving to the Switch? Unfortunately, no mention has been made of it since former Nintendo of America president Reggie referred to it in 2019. Check out all of this in our Netflix guide.
