Two of the Jets ’biggest, youngest stars are ecstatic about the team’s new coach.
Shortly afterwards it was announced that 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh had been hired to take over the Jets, defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and offensive lineman Mekhi Becton expressed their sincere support for the play.
“YESSS SIRRRRRRRRRR,” Williams wrote on Twitter along with hands praying, flexing and firing emoji.
Becton posted a similar post writing, “YESSSS SIRRRRR !!!!! WE WORK COACH !!!!!” He also included a GIF of someone fist that thrilled.
Williams reaches a successful second season with the Jets and appears to be the cornerstone of the defense. Becton garnered much praise as a rookie protecting Sam Darnold and could be the anchor of the offensive line for years to come.
Salah, 41, who was heading to the Jets, who finished 2-14, received support from former Jet Damien Woody, who is also an ESPN analyst.
“It’s the first time in a long time that I feel like the #Jets are really on the right track,” Woody tweeted.
The safety of the 49ers, Richard Sherman, was also a fan of the movement.
“@Nyjets have a great one! Congratulations! ”The Pro Bowler posted on Twitter.
He also made a bold prediction in a text to NFL reporter Albert Breer.
“Great pickup!” Sherman wrote. “It will change this whole culture!”
According to Breer, 49ers general manager John Lynch called Saleh “a tremendously gifted leader” and said the Jets are “very lucky.”
