This is how the new Gotham Health Roosevelt clinic, located in Jackson Heights, looks like, with the mission of caring for patients suffering from coronavirus sequelae.
“Here we have primary care for the whole family, and for patients who have long-term effects of COVID-19,” Dr. Atif Muhammad explained.
The clinic, COVID19 Center of Excellence in Gotham Heatlh Roosevelt, is located in one of the neighborhoods most affected by the coronavirus.
37 percent of Queens residents have tested positive for coronavirus in the Jackson Heights area.
This clinic, located at 72nd Street and Roosevelt Avenue, will welcome patients who have overcome the disease but now need follow-up in their medical care.
It is the only clinic in Queens that has the space and tools to receive patients with lung, radiological and even mental health effects.
“There are a lot of people who are very tired after COVID, daily. They have mental problems,” Dr. Muhammad added.
In addition, patients who come to this center will be able to receive low-cost or free medical care regardless of their immigration status. This is determined by the income of each family.
“There are a lot of people who don’t know that there is a place to go when you have these symptoms after VOCID or for primary care,” the doctor said.
It is a medical center that has 20 examination rooms and specialists for each family member.
Specialized services include cancer diagnoses, gynecology, dental and vision care, diabetes control, podiatry and radiology.
Each room has tools with the latest technology for patient care.
“Patients have been very excited not only by our amazing providers but also to debut a new and appropriate place for each patient,” said Dr. Justin List, also of Gotham Health Roosevelt.
