New Jersey reports 2 more Ida-related deaths

Two more deaths have been added to the New Jersey Hurricane Ida figure, which has accounted for the confirmed total of Garden State, devastated by the storm, at 27, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Saturday.

“I am deeply saddened to report two additional casualties, bringing the total to 27 New Jersey residents who have lost their lives by this storm,” Murphy said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families and communities that mourn a loved one.”

Ida’s wreckage caused catastrophic flooding and several tornadoes in New Jersey. The tail of the deadly storm hit the northeast and killed at least 48 people across the region.

The White House announced Saturday that President Biden will tour storm-ravaged neighborhoods in Queens on Tuesday, where 13 deaths have been reported. Biden will make a second stop in Manville, New Jersey.

In the state of the garden, several tornadoes broke up the neighbors and destroyed the houses while the heavy rains flooded the houses, devastated the cars and overflowed the rivers.

The damage to Manville included a banquet hall that was razed by an explosion while surrounded by flooded water.
