To make an appointment, eligible people can call 866-201-6909 or 833-476-1031 for those with a hearing impairment. The Lake County County Board of Commissioners said Tuesday that the county is now participating in the state-administered vaccine appointment system, using that number.
Appointments begin at the new location of the old Sears store at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Only during the first week will the first doses be offered at the place of entry.
“We want to remind the public that our vaccination plan is long-term,” the DOH said in a press release. “People who are unable to receive a vaccine during this first phase will have the opportunity to continue and expand our efforts.”
People must be able to show residency in Florida by identifying or carrying two other items, including housing documents or an invoice, that show they live in Florida for more than 30 days a year.
On Tuesday, the Florida Department of Health in Lake County began administering second doses of the Modern vaccine to St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Patrick and Mount Dora. This site does not offer the first doses, but only reinforcement for people who received the first shot of Moderna at a Lake County vaccine site.
Later, the county DOH announced that second doses would be administered to those who needed their Pfizer booster shot at an Amazon distribution site in Groveland. The site will also offer first doses in the morning, but afternoon seats will be reserved for those in need of reinforcement.
“Drive and park to get vaccinated; the afternoon space is for second doses only,” according to a press release.
Once the car park reaches capacity, the line will be closed to new traffic.
The Groveland site opens Wednesday at 8 a.m. on 7453 Republic Drive.
People who previously had their first shot in Lake County, both Pfizer and Modern, will be contacted by the department to request an appointment for their second shot.
According to the DOH vaccine report, Lake County has administered more than 32,000 first doses of the vaccine as of Monday. More than 2,300 people in the county have completed their inoculation with reinforcement, according to the report.
