SINGAPORE: While there will be no fireworks in Marina Bay this year due to public health issues, residents can expect fireworks at 11 places in the heart of New Year’s Eve.
The screens, which will be made virtual for the first time, are part of the year-end community countdown programs organized by the Popular Association (AP).
This is to allow residents to participate in a “safe” way amid the COVID-19 outbreak, PA said in a press release on Wednesday (December 23rd).
“When 2021 comes to an end and we are approaching phase 3 reopening, we need to stay vigilant especially during the holiday season,” PA said.
The pyrotechnic shows will take place in Bedok, Bishan, Boon Lay, Geylang, Hougang, Jurong, Tampines, Tiong Bahru, Woodlands, Yew Tee and Nanyang Hall in the West Coast Group Representation Constitution (GRC).
The exhibitions can also be broadcast live on several of the 16 virtual engagements organized by PA to open in 2021.
Two of the countdown engagements, in Punggol Coast and Nee Soon South, will take place on December 27th.
Two others, in Clementi and Telok Blangah, will take place on January 1st.
The rest will take place on the night of December 31st.
In many of the engagements, residents will be able to share their wishes for the new year, participate in games and contests, and enjoy live performances.
