A group of young cyclists attacked a BMW in broad daylight in Manhattan, terrorizing the man and woman who were inside a terrifying ambush captured in the video.
Several assailants surrounded the luxurious promenade on Fifth Avenue and 21st Street around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, with some hitting the vehicle with their fists and feet, and another smashing a bicycle over it, video posted to Instagram by Breaking911.
An attacker started running, jumped on the hood of the BMW and jumped to the top of the windshield, causing it to fall in part, as the video shows.
“It was an animalistic attack in broad daylight,” said a Manhattan police officer, who noted that the occupants of the vehicle, a man and a woman in their fifties, were afraid of their lives. “It shows how much the city has deteriorated and politicians better get their heads out of the sand and start tackling these problems before there’s anything left.”
The same group similarly attacked a taxi shortly after, the source said.
Both incidents are being investigated.
It was not immediately known what preceded the savage incident or whether it had been stopped.
