The wishes of the mini-fly champion Angel “Tito” Acosta to reign in a higher division, were left in mere dreams.
Acosta failed in his attempt to take the World Boxing Organization (WBO) fly title, on the Japanese side of Nakatani, in the fall defeated by technical knockout 32 seconds into the fourth round after the refer to stop the encounter by a profuse bleeding of the boricua in the nasal area.
The Puerto Rican was damaged early in the first round by Nakatani who with his active shrapnel continued his dominance in what was his second title defense.
For Acosta it was his third professional defeat and he saw his mark fall to 22-3 and 21 KO’s. Instead, Nakatani improved to 22-0 and 17 KO’s.
The fight between the two was part of the poster preliminaries held at Casino de la Sol in Tucson, Arizona.
