Nintendo Game Boy gets a new and exclusive game 31 years after its release in 1989, courtesy of Green Boy Games and Kickstarter. In 2021, everyone and the pet of their mother’s mother’s sister’s promise, Banana Slug, may want a Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and games for them, but there are also some nostalgic gamers who would love a reason to discover the Nintendo Game Boy, one of the best handheld consoles ever made. That said, it’s not uncommon for the 31-year-old, soon-to-be-32-year-old hardware to have a new game, but that’s exactly what you’ll get this spring. More specifically, and after a successful Kickstarter campaign, He Shape changer will be released sometime this spring and right now the only way to play it will be the Nintendo Game Boy.
As Kickstarter points out, the developer has released several Nintendo Game Boy games in the past, and like those, this one will be limited primarily to physical cartridges in order to “keep alive the spirit” of the “legendary console.”
As for the game itself, you play as Elliot “a normal person” who is going to spend a weekend in the mountains with some friends. That said, the camping trip is quickly interrupted with a little elf asking you for help to save his world from a magician. To this end, the elf grants you a special power: whatever animal you touch, you become. However, the power only lasts until dawn, which means you have to reach your goal before the sun rises.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, don’t forget to check out Kickstarter, which has already grossed nearly $ 19,000, well above the $ 7,304 goal.
