It’s been almost five years since Nintendo released the Nintendo Switch. While preparing the new model next month, the company finally met a long wish of its users: the ability to connect AirPods and other Bluetooth headsets to the console.
As announced Nintendo of America turned on Twitter, Nintendo Switch users can now pair Bluetooth devices for audio output with this new update. On its support page, the Japanese company explains how it will work.
- Up to two wireless controllers can be connected to a Nintendo Switch system while using Bluetooth audio. You will not be able to pair additional wireless drivers until you disconnect the Bluetooth audio device;
- Bluetooth audio will be disconnected during local communication, such as when a local wireless multiplayer game starts.
As you can read above, it is possible to use the Pro controller and the AirPods at the same time, but you cannot use two Pro controllers and the wireless headphones simultaneously.
Nintendo also notes that the Nintendo Switch system can only use one Bluetooth audio device at a time, but can be paired with up to 10 devices.
Although Nintendo adds this capability, it is not possible to use Bluetooth microphones, and you may also have audio latency depending on your Bluetooth device.
