Nintendo Zelda Connectors: Skyward Sword HD with a new “button-only” control scheme

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for Nintendo Wii was originally built from the ground up for motion controls.

As a result, there’s a lot of swinging involved, and well, if you played in 2011, you might remember what a whole workout was like. Some players also encountered a number of problems: motion controls did not always work as intended and certain actions were not always recorded during the most crucial moments of the game if the movements were not executed correctly.

Fortunately, the HD version of the game coming to Switch is ah …change things, by allowing players to use a more traditional method of control, also known as. button and analog inputs. While Nintendo made it pretty clear during the game’s recent unveiling, this new control option is now being rolled out, which doesn’t just mean you can now play this game wherever you are (and in a Switch Lite, just in case), but it also makes it much more accessible.

In addition to the button-only control system, Skyward Sword on the Switch will also feature improved motion control support thanks to updated technology in Joy-Con controllers. The right controller will handle the Link Sword, while the left controller will handle its shield. Like the original game, you can also perform other actions with movement controls such as shooting Link’s bow and arrow.
