No damage to the structure after a rubbish fire near the park of the Terrace Hill mobile home in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wisconsin (WEAU) – A large rubbish fire forced residents of an Eau Claire mobile park to be evacuated from their homes Friday evening.

Eau Claire Fire & Rescue chief Matt Gunderson said the crews were called to the Terrace Hill mobile home park at block 3600 Seymour Road around 4:40 p.m. on Friday, April 2. .

About 70 houses in the neighborhood were evacuated and a city bus was taken to a temporary shelter. At 7 p.m., all residents were allowed to return home and were asked to take refuge at the site due to heavy smoke.

Eau Claire Fire & Rescue says the fire was under control after about 45 minutes, although strong winds made it difficult. The teams remained on the scene for about four hours to remove the remaining hot spots.

No injuries or damage to the structures were reported.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated
