The NYPD will require anyone 12 years of age or older who wants to attend a Police Academy graduation or promotion ceremony to prove proof of at least one dose of vaccine, The Post has learned.
The restriction not only covers friends and family, but also the police officer who graduates or is promoted.
Unvaccinated NYPD members “will still graduate or be promoted if they are unable to attend the ceremony,” an internal department bulletin released Thursday says.
The crackdown comes in line with another new policy that makes unvaccinated police officers face discipline if they don’t wear service masks.
The NYPD’s vaccination rate stands at 47 percent, the department said Friday.
“Since the vaccines were available, we have encouraged our employees, especially those who have contact with the public, to get vaccinated,” a spokesman said. “We continue to offer vaccines available on several occasions and in various locations to ensure that as many of our employees as possible receive the vaccine.”
A total of 60 NYPD agents and civilian employees have died from COVID-19.
