The third time is the charm!
New York City will begin providing the vaccine to NYPD officers beginning Monday, as the state opens the requirements for the next priority group.
The department’s medical division will begin firing guns at Randall Island, Rodman’s Neck, Floyd Bennett Field, the Police Academy and the 121 Precinct station house between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., according to a final message sent by force.
The orders will let police know when they can get the vaccine, the message adds.
The announcement comes two days after Gov. Andrew Cuomo stopped the City Council’s attempt to put police officers in line by labeling them as first aid.
In December, police commissioner Dermot Shea said police would be eligible for the vaccine, but the state supply delayed the release.
Shea tested positive for the pandemic on Friday morning, officials said. About 500 police officers have already hired COVID in 2021, police officials said.
