Oakland woman, 70, sight attacked, robbed by 2 men after returning from bank

OAKLAND, California (KGO): A shocking video shows the moment an Oakland grandmother falls to the ground when she returns home from the bank.

The video captured by her granddaughter comes after a series of attacks on seniors in the Oakland Chinatown.

Wanting to keep her identity private, the woman’s granddaughter says the incident occurred Feb. 3 around 11 a.m. in the 6th Avenue area and International Boulevard in Oakland.

In the video you can see a suspect quickly throwing the 70-year-old boy to the ground while another runs and steals his handbag. According to her granddaughter, the suspects also tried to grab her cell phone, but luckily, along with bank cash, they put it in their pocket and didn’t take it.

The woman’s granddaughter says she is already on the verge after a 91-year-old man and two other elderly people were attacked in the Chinatown in recent weeks. He plans to file a police report and hopes to raise awareness of crimes against the elderly. He went on to say that his grandmother was bruised, but that she is recovering from her traumatic experience.

ABC7 News has contacted Oakland police about this incident. On February 3, they held a press conference with local leaders and the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce, where Oakland Police Captain Bobby Hookfin said the attacks in Chinatown “… appear to be more violent. , for whatever reason and that’s why we have to stop it now. ”
