Gonzalez said Trump was misleading the public when he criticized the bill earlier this week, suggesting he was funding too many overseas projects and not providing large enough stimulus controls to American families.
“If @realDonaldTrump didn’t want the money to go to foreign countries, he shouldn’t have asked for it. 100% of the articles he complained about last night were lies (i.e., illegals don’t get $ 1800) or stuff from YOUR budget (all outside help), ”the Ohio Republican posted on Twitter.
“Finally, people combine two things. The covid agreement had nothing to do with the pig being discussed. However, it was combined with the omnibus. The omni had tons of pork. Again, though, this was Trump’s pig, ”he added.

Congressman’s reprimand comes after Trump criticized Congress for the $ 2.3 trillion package it approved Monday, which includes $ 900 billion in coronavirus relief and $ 1.4 trillion to fund the government until next October .
Trump noted the size of the checks and stimulus provisions, including $ 85.5 million for assistance in Cambodia and $ 40 million for the Kennedy Center in Washington, in his criticisms, suggesting that the funding priorities of the package are wrong.
“A few months ago, Congress began negotiations on a new package to get the urgently needed aid for the American people. It has been taken forever. However, the bill they now want to send to my desktop is very different than expected. It’s really a disgrace, “Trump said in a video posted on Twitter.

The president’s video has pressured Republicans in Congress in recent days to save the $ 2.3 trillion package. Democrats are introducing a bill to increase stimulus checks to $ 2,000.
Gonzalez noted the confusion comes as some House Republicans have said they will challenge the Electoral College vote in Congress in January.
