Old sheep are saved by a massive 77 pounds of matte fleece

The transformation of this sheep is amazing.

A dysfunctionally fluffy sheep in a forest outside Melbourne, Australia, was defeated by the shear amount of wool in the body. But the monstrous fur ball, nicknamed Baarack, was saved from its wool situation when rescuers shaved its heavy load, which weighed more than 77 pounds.

Baarack was recently discovered by a random animal lover, who alerted Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary about 37 miles north of Melbourne. According to Reuters, the group went to work and gave the flocculant boy what was clearly his first shave in years.

“Sheep should be slaughtered at least once a year; otherwise the fleece continues to grow and grow, as happened here,” said sanctuary representative Kyle Behrend. He added that Baarack had an owner at one point and had been tagged, but at some point the tag was “ripped off by the thick dark velvet around his face.”

However, wildlife was not at all bad for Baarack’s body.

“His hooves were in very good condition so as not to run over the rocks of the forest,” Behrend said. However, he added, the sheep were still “in a bit of a bad mood. He had little weight and, because of all the wool he had around his face, he could barely see. “

Baarack is on his way to his new worn-out life, and settled next to other sheep rescued on Edgar’s mission. Its ability to be so weakly covered in wool for so long, Behrend said, is ultimately a testament to the resilience of its species.

“Everything is going to show what the sheep of incredibly hardy and brave animals really are,” he said. “We couldn’t love them more if we tried.”
