Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not train during Monday’s season opener against Louisville.
Kiffin he said in a statement who had developed an advanced case of COVID-19.
“I’m grateful to be vaccinated and experience only mild symptoms. So much so, I’ve debated the test, but I’m relieved to do it,” Kiffin said. “I am proud of our program’s commitment to vaccination, and as a result, there are currently no other cases to report or expect team members to miss the game.”
Ole Miss said she has not yet decided who will be in charge of head coaching Monday for Chick-fil-A’s home game in Atlanta.
Kiffin said earlier this month that there was a 100% vaccination rate among Ole Miss players, coaches and staff.
The 46-year-old coach begins his second season with the Rebels after going 5-5 in 2020.
