Cottage Health’s automatic vaccination clinic at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital has 10,000 COVID-19 vaccination appointments available for the week.
The hospital has 8,500 Pfizer first-dose consultations available for its clinic this week, open Tuesday through Saturday, and an additional 1,500 second-dose consultations, according to Bob Behbehanian, director of marketing and consumerism at Cottage Health.
All community members over the age of 16 are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine, but 16 or 17-year-olds must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to give consent, Behbehanian said.
Appointments are required and must be made in advance at MyTurn, the state vaccine programming platform COVID-19.
As of Sunday, 256,125 doses of the vaccine had been delivered to the arms of county residents through state and federal allocations, and 21.1% of the county’s population is fully vaccinated, according to the community’s data board. county.
Meanwhile, public health officials in Santa Barbara County reported 24 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday and 167 community cases remain active.
No COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in the county in the past six days, and only nine deaths have been reported in the past two weeks, according to Noozhawk data tracking.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the county remains at 441.
There were 17 county residents hospitalized for the new virus as of Monday, including three in intensive care units. The county’s ICU availability rate was 27.6%, according to Public Health.
Of the new cases on Monday, seven were from Santa Barbara and four from the Santa Maria Valley. The Montecito-Summerland-Carpinteria area and the Goleta Valley each reported three new cases, and Isla Vista and the Santa Ynez Valley added two. Three cases were still pending geographical location.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 33,727 confirmed cases in Santa Barbara County.
