The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 3,121 new cases of the corona virus on Sunday, December 13, bringing the district’s total to 102,513 cases.
In the past two days, 216 inmates have tested positive as the eruption at the Orange County Jail continued.
The county reported 1,236 patients with the corona virus Sunday at local hospitals – an increase of 86 from Saturday’s report. While there were 722 people in hospitals in Orange County on July 14, this is higher than those admitted to the hospital during the first outbreak of the virus in July.
284 patients were listed in the ICUs on Sunday. The adjusted percentage of beds available in ICUs in the county is 1.6%.
In the last 14 days, 23,700 cases have been reported.
The county update states that 1,694,359 trials have been given for the corona virus since it began testing domestically, with at least 21,438 trials reported in the last 24 hours.
Fourteen new deaths were reported by the county on Sunday, bringing the total death toll to 1,694. The most recent death was recorded on December 7th.
Of the total 1,694 deaths reported by the virus, 615 were registered as skilled nursing home residents, 147 as assisted living facilities and four as homeless.

- 75-84: 22.02% (372. 2 above)
- 65-74: 19.52% (up to 330, 2)
- 55-64: 13.87% (233)
- 45-54: 7.56% (127)
- 35-44: 2.5% (42)
- 25-34: 1.43% (24)
- 18-24: 0.25% (4)
- 17 and younger: 0.06% (1)
Information about deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or collected through trial, and officials say they could take weeks to process.
Overall, an estimated 67% of cases, or 65,621, were recovered as of Sunday. The number of survivors is based on the total number of cases in the previous 28 days.
Officials insist that the data released each day is preliminary and subject to change. Additional information may be available upon completion of individual case investigations.
