JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage, Girl Scouts look forward to bringing you a smile and a delicious treat with their annual cookie season.
But like so many companies, Girl Scouts are adjusting their business model to suit the needs of people in the community during the pandemic.
They have found several ways to distribute cookies securely without limited contact.
One way is to turn to GrubHub.
Starting Monday, you can order Thin Mints, Samoas, Tag-A-Longs and more through the food app.
“The girls will have the backend of this e-business, this e-commerce business, and they will track their sales locally. They will prepare the sales and fulfill the orders, and then GrubHub will come in, pick them up and deliver them directly to your home, ”said Mary Anne Jacobs, CEO of Gateway Council.
This year you will also find cookie booths, virtual cookie booths and, of course, booths outside your local store with new security protocols.

Another contactless option will be the door hangers left on the front door with a QR code.

“You can actually scan the code, go to our website, pick your zip code, pick your favorite troop, and have that troop deliver the cookies to you or send them,” Jacobs said.
Girl Scouts of Gateway Council Press Release:
“New this season, Girl Scouts of Gateway Council is participating in a national collaboration with the Grubhub ordering and food delivery platform so that girls have an additional way to facilitate contactless cookie orders. Across the board, cookie aficionados can order Girl Scout cookies to pick up or deliver Grubhub.com or the Grubhub app. With hands-on experience in e-commerce management, local Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory and more, using Grubhub’s back-end technology. This method will be available in many areas of North Florida from February 1 to March 7. As always, the benefits benefit the troops and the council while offering another innovative way to run the cookie program securely virtually. GSUSA is grateful to Grubhub for waiving all tariffs on the organization to make this new delivery option viable without reducing the revenues of troops and town halls. “
