The mask warrant does not apply when a person is alone or with members of the same household, according to the press release.
Masks are required if a person is close to someone from a different home and does not practice social distancing.
People in private residences are also advised to mask themselves outdoors if someone from another home has finished.
The state directive goes beyond guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that say fully vaccinated people should wear masks indoors in areas with high rates of virus transmission.
Oregon is the first state to reimplement an outside mask mandate. All states abandoned theirs after CDC guidelines allowed them to do so.
