Ori director apologizes for previous criticism of Fable, No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk developers

Thomas Mahler has been making headlines this week. The game director of Ori and the blind forest i Ori and the will of the warnings offered some strong criticism to “snake oil sellers” on Wednesday via ResetEra, specifically targeting Peter Molyneux, No Man’s Sky i Cyberpunk 2077.

As you can imagine, this sparked a rather heated debate. Given that Will of the Wisps suffered noticeably from performance issues at launch, he has been accused of hypocrisy in various areas and criticized for a “reducing” point of view.

Since then, however, Mahler has apologized. Issue a statement using Twitter yesterday, he backed down in his previous comments and admitted he was “baffled”:

My intention was definitely not to hurt anyone, but to offer a start to discussion on current issues facing the industry. We all share a common love for this art form and we must always be respectful of each other. And I wasn’t yesterday.
