Orioles rescue victory at Yankee Stadium

NEW YORK – Anthony Santander pulled Gio Urshela off the plate with a shot from right field in the eleventh inning, and the Baltimore Orioles retained the lead to beat the New York Yankees 4-3 on Wednesday.

Moments before Venezuelan Santander prevented the tie with his shot, emerging Chance Sisco had given Baltimore the lead with a single.

Colombian Urshela started the top of the eleventh inning as an automatic runner, and advanced into the anteroom thanks to a touchdown by Brett Gardner.

DJ LeMahieu followed him with a solid line in right field. Santander caught the ball to make the out, settled down and took a perfect shot on the plate, winning by a couple of steps to the Colombian, who swept his head and head to the glove of the Dominican receiver Pedro Severino.

It was Santander’s second big shot on the plate in the game, but the first came just late and couldn’t stop Tyler Wade from getting the equalizer in the 10th inning. Santander also sounded a homer in the fifth chapter.
