Orlando Bloom took a while to reflect on a life-threatening fall the star suffered in 1998, sharing details of the crash on social media.
“It’s me on my back around 1998, about 3 months after falling 3 floors and I crushed my spine, escaping death and paralysis,” the 44-year-old actor wrote on Instagram , who subtitled a movie of himself riding a bike while carrying his arm and smiling, despite the injuries.
“Grateful every day for my members that allow me to push my limits and live my life on the sidelines (now safer🙏),” he added, sharing a second photo of himself today, riding with a friend.
Bloom’s fiancée, Katy Perry, commented on the post by writing, “I love you.” Miranda Kerr, the actor’s ex-wife, also wrote, “So proud of you ❤️.”
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor previously spoke of the fall with GQ, telling the publication in 2005 that the incident happened while he was climbing a rooftop terrace with friends. When a leaking drain pipe collapsed, the star fell three stories.
“Until then, I didn’t have a healthy recognition for life and death because we’re not invincible,” Bloom told the magazine. “And for four days I faced the idea of living in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. I went to some dark places in my mind. I realized that either I will walk again or I will not ”.
“But this accident has informed me all my life,” he continued. “Until you are about to lose it, you don’t realize it. He used to ride a motorbike and drive cars like everything was a racetrack; it was ridiculous. It wasn’t because I thought it was great; it was just because I loved living on the edge. But I’ve caught a cold. “
