Packers Aaron Rodgers throws the TD pass number 46 with 72 yards to Marquez Valdes-Scantling

No Aaron Rodgers touchdown, time 46.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback hit a one-season career record – and a franchise record – with his 46th touchdown pass in the second quarter on Sunday against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

And credit Rodgers for acknowledging what was to come.

The Bears cornered Duke Shelley, telling Rodgers he had to get rid of the ball quickly. With Márquez Valdés-Scantling in the slot in front of defender Danny Trevathan, it was an easy mismatch: one of the NFL’s fastest receivers against a defender.

The result was an intact 72-yard touchdown.

Rodgers has two touchdown passes over 70 yards this season, both at Valdes-Scantling. The other was 78 yards against the Jaguars in Week 10. It’s the first time Rodgers has had several 70-yard touchdown passes since 2014, when he had three.
