Packers QB Aaron Rodgers agrees to donate $ 500,000 to The Barstool Fund

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers pledges half a million dollars to help small businesses suffering from the ongoing pandemic.

Rodgers told Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy on Friday on Instagram that it coincides with Portnoy’s initial $ 500,000 donation that started The Barstool Fund, a charity that supports businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. .

“I just want to get involved,” Rodgers said. “I’m there. I want to be in the same amount you put in. You started with $ 500,000, that’s what I’m for. It’s an honor to be a part of it.”

The Barstool Fund has raised more than $ 22 million and helped 102 different companies as of Sunday morning.

Rodgers believes the charity is helping companies “by doing something the government is not doing.” The fund provides “life-changing money” to companies as soon as two or three days.

Rodgers also asked teammates and others to help the companies he described as the “backbone of this country.”

“It’s a call to action so everyone can continue to give and do what they can,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers said he was inspired by The Barstool Fund videos that helped save small businesses.

“I’m amazed at what you guys did and I couldn’t sit on the sidelines anymore,” Rodgers said. “It simply came to our notice then. We are talking about our people, these are our people. This is the backbone for this country to take it to the chin right now, I want to take part in it, I have to get involved ”.
