NFL.com’s latest Daniel Jeremiah drill causes the Green Bay Packers to get help for the offensive line at the end of the first round.
Jeremiah’s fake drill sent Teven Jenkins, an offensive attack from the state of Oklahoma to the Packers, to No. 29 overall.
Jenkins ’selection would give the Packers a valuable depth in offensive attacks and a potential long-term starter in straight attack against David Bakhtiari. Jeremiah believes Jenkins can play both attack and protection, providing another player with valuable versatility for the Packers ’offensive line.
Matt LaFleur’s offense used mostly Rick Wagner and Billy Turner on the right in 2020. Turner may play several positions and may have to play on the left to start in 2021, while Wagner, despite a strong season of 2020, could be a maximum victim this low season. The Packers could also lose the All-Pro center Corey Linsley on free agency, probably requiring guard Elgton Jenkins or Lucas Patrick to get into it.
Here’s Jenkins ‘comment from Jeremies’ big board:
Jenkins is a great powerful attack. He gets out of his position very quickly in the passing game and can cover ground in a hurry. He has no problem kicking out the speed caps. However, it has some issues when it has to be redirected quickly inland, which entails some allowed pressures. He has strong, violent hands, but sometimes he will be too aggressive, which affects his balance. However, it absorbs strength runners. It’s fun to watch in the race match. You can pair and throw the liners over your nose. It collects a lot of rubble. It has the speed of cutting by the back and is very efficient going up to the second level. Overall, Jenkins has some balance issues to correct, but I love his size, speed, and unpleasantness. I see him as a quality NFL starter in the right attacks.
Jenkins is the 26th main board player in Pro Football Focus. According to the site, he only allowed four total pressures while playing correct attack last season.
Keeping Aaron Rodgers protected should continue to be a long-term priority for packers. The 37-year-old quarterback only caught 20 sacks in total in 16 regular-season games during his 2020 MVP season.
The Packers have not drafted a true offensive attack since Jason Spriggs in the second round of 2016. The need for the position would diminish if Wagner returns in 2021, but he has only hired one more season and has had injury problems in the past.
Jeremies ’first low draft of the low season caused the Packers to take on Louisville receiver Tutu Atwell.
