ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday warned of the possible effects of the Afghan crisis, saying the world would face a “huge disaster” if its advice on the war-torn country were ignored.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the world should listen to Pakistan because “in the recent past the councils of Pakistan had not been taken into account and if the council of Pakistan had been heard and of the Prime Minister, the situation would have been different “.
In an interview with TRT World, published by Dawn, the minister said the situation in Afghanistan was “very worrying” for Pakistan, recalling that “we had to deal with the problems when the Soviet Union left Afghanistan. in 1988 “.
He said that while the Troika Plus, which included Russia, China, the United States and Pakistan, played an important role in resolving the Afghan conflict, the other group was made up of Turkey, Pakistan, Iran and other states. of Central Asia also needed to take paper to help resolve the crisis.
Chaudhry said Pakistan was once again in a mess when US and NATO forces left Afghanistan. He warned that Pakistan was already hosting 3.5 million Afghan refugees, adding that “our economy is not so strong to accommodate more refugees.”
“The way Afghanistan has been abandoned in the past and if the world repeats the same mistake, we will have a center of extremist organizations on the border with Pakistan, which will obviously worry us greatly,” he warned.
The minister insisted that Pakistan was doing everything possible to stabilize the region, as “we are working with regional and international powers to achieve an inclusive government in Afghanistan.”
Chaudhry said, however, that at that time there was no refugee crisis. “As for the migrants, because at this stage the takeover had no blood, so there is still no refugee crisis and our border is really normal right now.”
He stressed that Pakistan had a comprehensive strategy to deal with the instability, as “we do not want to repeat the 1977 episode as we do not want these migrants to enter Pakistan.”
He stressed that arrangements will be made on the Pakistani border to deal with the exodus of people. “The world must come to the aid of Pakistan in this situation.”
