The club said in a statement that the “prisoners, in a unified and harmonious manner, decided to suspend the collective hunger strike, after satisfying their demands.”

According to reports, Israel also agreed to “stop addressing prisoners affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ),” the statement added, without providing further details.
Five of the fugitive prisoners were members of the PIJ.
Qadri Abu Bakr, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Committee, had said earlier that the first phase of the hunger strike would include 1,380 prisoners.
“Prisoners and detainees have decided to go on a hunger strike to improve their conditions,” Abu Bakr said in an interview with Palestinian news agency Ma’an.
He said imprisoned leaders of several Palestinian factions, including Marwan Barghouti and Karim Younis, who are serving life sentences for their role in anti-Israeli terrorist activities, will join the first stage of the hunger strike.
“The demands of the prisoners in the next strike are aimed at restoring the situation prior to the recent punitive measures,” he explained, referring to the measures of the penitentiary authority after the escape. The measures included, among other things, the transfer of Palestinian Islamic Jihad inmates to other prisons.
Prisoners added new demands, such as removing the glass that separated them from visitors and allowing families in the Gaza Strip to visit their children imprisoned in Israel, the Palestinian official said.
