The Spanish hotel chain Palladium assures that all safety and prevention measures against covid-19 were complied with at the New Year’s Eve party held at a hotel owned by them in Playa Bávaro, in the Dominican Republic. which has been sanctioned by the Government of the Caribbean country with about 56,500 euros.
In a statement issued today, the company defends the event organized at its hotel, which the Dominican authorities have described as “unacceptable” as hotels are forbidden in this country to hold parties, concerts or other events until the next 10 January, one of the measures taken by the coronavirus pandemic.
Therefore, the Ministries of Tourism and Public Health of the Dominican Republic in addition to imposing a penalty, warned Palladiun that if the situation is repeated, will see “suspended its operating license.”
In the statement, the Spanish hotel chain says that in the celebration there was 27.9% of the capacity of the outdoor enclosure, “figure significantly below 40%” authorized.
In addition, he explains that temperature controls were carried out on the arrival of all attendees, ice dispensers were made available at all accesses and also strict social distancing measures were carried out separating the tables a minimum of 3.5 meters and with a maximum of 6 people per table.
Palladium justifies that the published videos of the celebration offer a “biased view” of what has happened, “since they are images recorded at ground level, without sufficient perspective of the distance between tables” and therefore “are not representative of the security with which the celebration was carried out “.
For all this, the company notes that not only has it complied at all times with local regulations, “but it has acted in different circumstances in an exemplary manner.”
The Cabinet of Tourism fined with the sum of 4 million pesos to the mentioned establimiennto, after disrespecting the sanitary norms during the past 31 of December.
According to the statement, the hotel violated the Cabinet regulations, specifically with resolution DJ 05/2020, which prohibits these establishments from holding parties until Sunday 10 January.
