The PlayStation 5 was easily one of the hottest items of this holiday and several parents worked overtime to secure the console as a Christmas present. Given the effort most of them had to make, it’s hard to blame parents for working overtime to make sure the secret was kept well hidden. Reddit user bbbbbbbbbb99 shared a picture of the perfect hiding place for the PS5: on the bottom shelf of the dishwasher, as most teens aren’t the best at opening the appliance to store dishes. Of course, as some Reddit users were quick to point out, this could backfire, in case the dishwasher turns on somehow.

With the holidays starting to end, it will be interesting to see what impact it will have on the demand for the PS5 console. After the system was launched in November, PS5 units became a difficult item to track. In the secondary market, the console had more than double its MSRP, which has probably been exacerbated by the use of robots. Console demand was so high this year, it even resulted in one of the best versions of Saturday Night Live of the season, about a fan who obsessively wrote to Santa to ask for the console. It is clear that the system has become a cultural phenomenon over the last two months.
While some parents and fans were able to get the system without too much difficulty, others can hardly be accused of enduring the purchase of a PS5 until after the holidays. After all, some of the best games on the system can also be purchased on PS4. Systems shortages are very common around launch, especially considering that most consoles tend to launch around November. In October, Sony announced plans to ship 7.6 million PS5 consoles worldwide in March 2021. If the company expects to reach that ambitious sales figure, it will have to make the consoles more available. , which would mean more opportunities for fans one.
