Paris Hilton states that she suffered mental and physical abuse at a Utah boarding school

City of Salt Lake. Paris Hilton testify about the abuse he says he suffered years ago at a boarding school in Utah, in support of a bill that seeks to regulate the troubled teen industry in the state.

When she was 17, Hilton went for 11 months to Provo Canyon School, where she says she was mentally and physically abused. She recalled that staff members beat her, forced her to take unidentified pills, saw her while she was showering and put her in solitary confinement without clothes as punishment.

The socialite and reality star also talked about the abuse in the documentary “This is Paris” which premiered late last year.

Hilton testified at a hearing of a Senate committee at the Utah Capitol in favor of the bill that would require greater government oversight of residential treatment centers for youth and require them to document when restrictions apply. The measure was passed unanimously after the emotional statement of Hilton and several other survivors.

“Talking about something so personal was and still is scary”Hilton told the commission. “But I can’t go to sleep at night knowing there are other guys experiencing the same abuse that I and so many others went through, and you shouldn’t either.”

Hilton, 39, said the treatment he received was so “traumatic” that he suffered from nightmares and insomnia for years.

The Provo institution has new owners and the administration has said it cannot make statements about anything that happened before the change, including the time Hilton was here. A statement on the school’s website states that the previous owners sold it in 2000.

Since the documentary premiered, other celebrities have talked about their experiences at that same school or similar ones, including the daughter of Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson, And the tattoo artist Kat de D.

During his statement, Hilton asked the president Joe Biden and Congress leaders who take action and said it seeks to push for federal law.

“This is just the first step”Hilton told reporters. “This initiative is definitely going to help a lot of kids, but obviously there’s more work to be done and I won’t stop until the change happens.”
