All passengers who have been in the UK in the last two weeks will be subject to mandatory quarantine upon arrival in the Dominican Republic, as part of new preventive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.
In fact, these restrictions are already being applied to airports operated by Dominican Airports XXI (Aerodom), as explained by Luis López Mena, corporate communications director of this consortium.
The UK has been struggling with a new strain of the coronavirus, which scientists have theorized is more contagious, so many countries have suspended travel from that nation.
However, Lopez Mena clarified that for Aerodom terminals do not receive direct flights from the UK.
“Now what has been established is that all the people who have been in the UK for the last two weeks they will be subject to compulsory quarantine upon arrival in the country, As a preventive health measure against COVID-19, ”he argued.
However, he did not explain the places where these people would be transferred upon arrival at domestic airports.
At the beginning of the pandemic the Ministry of Public Health established in the area of the Airport the Americas, two centers where the travelers were sent to obligatory quarantine.
One of the centers enabled by Public Health operated in the Naval base, located in Small Mouth and another one in Club of the General Direction of Customs, of the avenue the Americas.
They will also receive the collaboration of inspectors from the General Directorate of Migration and the Specialized Body for Airport Security and Civil Aviation (CESAC).
The process is as follows: a migration officer validates the passenger’s passport if she was visiting the UK recently, in the last two weeks.
In accordance with the provisions of the traveler having been in that country, the migration inspector will notify the Public Health staff, Who will proceed to send it to the person to mandatory quarantine.
