Several wide receivers from the 2019 draft class have become featured. Despite being a first round selection, N’Keal Harry it is not among them. But the Patriots ’expansion has shown flashes in his abbreviated term. His inconsistent production, however, seems to have teams wondering if the Patriots have seen enough of it.
Teams are calling the Ducks over Harry, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL.com (video link). There are two years left for Harry’s rookie contract, with an option decision for a fifth year that shouldn’t expire until 2022. Still, Harry is a bit off the options radar right now.
New England selected Harry with the final selection of the first round of 2019. Arizona State’s 6-foot-4 product has totaled just 414 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 21 games. But it has not been precisely pushed into ideal circumstances.
Harry missed the first half of his rookie season due to injury and did not contribute much to the season Tom Bradylast months with the franchise. The COVID-19 pandemic that kept players away from the team’s facilities prevented Harry from working Cam Newton, which he didn’t sign until late June, during the low season of 2020. Newton’s subsequent struggles limited New England’s passing game, no doubt Harry contributed a bit to the veteran passenger’s problems.
If they treated Harry this low season, the Patriots would sell quite low. None of his last two rookie contract limit numbers exceed $ 3.5 million. Teams will also have a lot of receivers to choose from in a free agency, and this draft is expected to include another great crop. The Ducks will surely be added to their current group and it will be interesting to see where Harry is when they finish doing so.
