Patriots to sign Jalen Mills

The Patriots will not stop. After signing Jonnu Smith, Of which Godchaux, i Matt Judon to great offers, New England adds another high profile player.

The Ducks sign the defensive back Jalen Mills, agent Drew Rosenhaus tells ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter (Twitter link). Interestingly, Rosenhaus also represents Smith and Godchaux, as clearly as he and Bill Belichick have a good relationship. It’s a four-year deal for Mills, worth $ 24 million, with a 9MM warranty. The Patriots have been the most active team so far, not even close.

New England came into the free agency with a lot of limit and they weren’t about to let it go. A selection for the Eagles ’seventh-round pick in 2016, Mills quickly established himself as a starter and was a big part of the team that beat the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, starting 15 games that year.

Known for his versatility, Mills has extensive experience in both corner and safety. His foot injuries limited him to just eight and nine games in 2018 and 2019, but he started 15 again in 2020. This past year he ended up with 74 attacks, 1.5 sacks, three defending passes and an interception.
