Pau Donés invited us to enjoy every minute of life

Journalist Jordi Évole recalls that when Pau Donés asked him to do what would be his last interview before he died of cancer, he stayed in shock to know that the leader of Jarabe de Palo had little time left in his life.

However, in the documentary that resulted from this talk and that bears by name That which you give me, There is room for everything but sadness. He explains that, although they both cried when they planned it, in the recording the atmosphere was already different.

“Don’t be afraid of a documentary like this. At the outset, just as one thinks that watching a person who is on the verge of death can be sad and very hard and I assure you that is not the case.” says Jordi Évole in an interview.

“It’s a living testament that comforts, it comes in like a breath of fresh air in a time like the one we live in and that one takes the teaching that is worth living even if you only have 15 days to live. I think you can be very helpful at a time like this, ”he comments.

The documentary will premiere on the pay channel Antena 3 International next Monday at 8:30 pm, after its screening in some cinemas due to the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2020.

“It is a talk that invites you to live, to enjoy every minute of life thanks to the legacy left to us by Paul and his strength. With the situation in which we have lived the last year with death present in all latitudes, all of a sudden you get a message about how to deal with life and also death, a very vital message, “he said.

The interpreter of the skinny died on June 9, 2020, due to colon cancer; 15 days before it was that he sat down to talk to Évole and, although he visibly felt weak, the journalist points out that when entering the conversation this was forgotten.

“It’s something he himself said to me, ‘Forget how I am, what’s here is me and what we have to do is chat.’

“He also said we shouldn’t waste time hating because it’s not worth it and it’s a waste of time.”
