Seconds Variety, BBC Criminal Drama Peaky Blinders—Which will star Cillian Murphy as emerging gangster Tommy Shelby in post-war English — will come to a surprising end after its next sixth season (on Netflix here in the colonies). The show has just resumed production after closing everything about the COVID-19 pandemic and Variety says the announcement of the show’s imminent return was accompanied by the revelation that the sixth season will also be the last. This is contrary to what was previously stated by creator Steven Knight, as he has said in the past that the show would last at least seven seasons, but fans can at least feel comforted that this will not be the end of Peaky Blinders franchise as a whole: Knight adds that the show will live somehow, with Variety guessing there will be a “movie or spin-off.”

We would also guess a comic or a video game, as the first is relatively easy and the second is already done (there is one Peaky Blinders video game!), but we have no idea. Either way, the Peaky Blinders The TV show will return (and end) later this year or early next year, and then continue to operate in some other way.
